Mount Pilatus in Switzerland was something to see. It’s stunning and no amount of pictures will ever do it justice. The entire experience, all I wanted to do was try and take pictures to remember it all, and as much as I tried, I just could not capture the beauty of it. But I did obviously take pictures to the best of my capability and here is our journey on Mount Pilatus!
You can watch the video to get a quick summary of our trip, or read the details here in the blog post!
Our journey started at the bottom of Mount Pilatus. We took a bus from our hotel in Lucerne to Kriens, which is at the bottom of the mountain. From there, we took the panorama gondolas up to the first stop which was the park!
FIRST STOP: Krienseregg
I can’t think of a single playground that can beat this one. It’s called PILU Land! The backdrop was something that was absolutely stunning. There were slides, swings, see-saws, ziplines and all sorts of things to climb and play on! If you have kids, you gotta make a stop at this playground. We spent close to 45 minutes here just playing and soaking it all in.
SECOND STOP: Frakmuntegg
Alright, time to head on up to the next stop (on a panorama gondola again!) which is where the famous toboggan ride is. Unfortunately, our kids didn’t seem interested and rather scared so we went ahead and skipped it, but soaked in all that this stop had to offer.
THIRD STOP: Pilatus Kulm
Now to the very top! It was called the dragon ride and this gondola held a lot more people so it wasn’t just the four of us in a little one (the panorama gondola). The scenery from the top is absolutely breath-taking. Like I said before, no camera will ever do it justice but I tried to capture as much as I could!
There is a restaurant at the top where you can grab some food and quite a bit of people had said to try the curry wurst so we did and it did not disappoint! Absolutely delicious! You can also walk up some stairs to go all the way up to the top, but the kids were already getting a smidge tired, and we knew we had a long ways down, so we skipped it.
FOURTH STOP: Alpnachstad
Aaaaand back down we go! We took the cogwheel train back down the bottom, and this was such an awesome fun experience! I HIGHLY recommend it. The sights you see and to be able to go through caves right through the mountains was mind blowing.
Back down to the bottom! And from here we took a train back to Lucerne! One of my favorite days in Switzerland for sure! It’s not to be missed if you come to Lucerne with your children especially!
