Sister Staycation!

Believe it or not, I’ve never spent more than a couple of hours away from the kids. It’s been over three years since I’ve gone anyway alone or with friends! But more over, my sister and I haven’t gone anywhere together either, EVER!

I’ve been struggling this summer and just needed a night away to reset. I mean let’s be real.

I. Needed. A. Break.

So my sister and I decided that we would just spend a weekend frolicking around Austin! Sometimes we don’t fully get to soak in our own city even though you’re living in it! It was amazing to get out and just use my city as our playground!

After shopping and eating an amazing brunch, we checked into the Westin in downtown and just chilled out before dinner at Parkside!

We mostly chilled out and talked laaaaate into the night! Woke up in the morning and headed out to do more of downtown Austin!

Honestly, it felt great to have one morning that the kids weren’t all over me the minute I woke up. Sometimes, moms need breaks too! And this one was long overdue! Definitely not waiting another three years to make this happen again!

Love, Alfa

How nice to spend time enjoying your sister and your city! As much as we love our kids, it’s so necessary to have adult conversations and nice meals and a little time to yourself once in awhile!!!

What a really cool idea!! My sister is coming to visit us for Thanksgiving (Detroit) and I can’t wait for us have a sister’s day out. I haven’t had a break away from my family in years, so I understand what you mean. I love the pictures you guys took!

It looks like you had a lot of fun. You should make sure you get away from time to time, for you time and recharge.
