Sintra is true magic. There is something about the city that pulls you in and just makes you fall in love with it. The scenery is beautiful, and even though we went in July, it’s a little bit chillier than surround cities like Lisbon and Cascais. Sintra is also a UNESCO world heritage site which basically means everything is almost kept as it is, which makes it that much more beautiful.
We knew from the moment we got there that if we ever came back to that Lisbon area, we would definitely stay in Sintra because it’s the city that just hugs you close. We also toured Pena Palace, which such an amazing experience! We did a horse carriage ride in the city, walked the tiny streets, drank port, and soaked it all in!
Pena Palace
This property is absolutely stunning. If you’re ever going to Lisbon, you should definitely take the day trip to visit Pena Palace in Sintra. Obviously these pictures will not do it justice, but it’s something to see. The colors, the architecture, and the this dewy fog that hangs around. It’s majestic and is bound to take your breath away. We spent quite a few hours walking the grounds, and as you go up to top, it actually gets really chilly! And we went in mid-July!
