Being a mom basically means you have your phone on you all the time because you’re constantly taking pictures of those precious little beings in your life. I break out my DSLR when I want amazing photos of course, but being a mom, sometimes it’s easier to just pull out that phone and snap a few pictures. We don’t get a whole lot of time to always go grab the big girl camera because by then, the moment is gone. Or you now have to change a poopy diaper. Or spit up. Or something gross. Mom life. Hence, iPhone photography. Or as the cool, hip people are calling it: Iphonegraphy. Yea, it’s a thing. ANYWHOOOO, it is perfect for mommas.
Because of this whole Iphonegraphy craze, I found some really cool apps to help my iPhone pictures better. I love editing pictures, and these apps have truly made it simple to get the look I’m going for quickly on my phone! If the only editing apps you’re using is the one that is on Instagram, you are seriously limiting yourself. Check some of these out, and trust me, you’ll definitely re-think the filters on the social media apps.
[ONE]
Afterlight ($0.99)
Yes, this one you have to pay for. But don’t let it deter you from getting it. It’s only a buck. You spend more at Starbucks for a cup of coffee! Anyway,I use this daily. I mean it. EVERY DAY. User-friendly, easy to use, and lets you go from one app to another without having to save every picture to the camera roll, and then opening it on a different one. Huge time-saver. My favorite filters are “captain’ and “coal”. You can play with so many of the tools to get exactly the look you want. I highly recommend this folks.
[TWO]
VSCO Cam (free)
If I can’t get the exact look with Afterlight for whatever reason, I turn to VSCO next. I know this a very popular app, but it really does do amazing things to plain pictures. Takes a second to figure out when you get it, but again, once you know how to use it, you won’t go back. I don’t really have favorites on this app because I really do love it all. Best of all, it’s FREEEEEEE!!
[THREE]
Squareready (free)
I absolutely love this app. If I want to get something on Instagram but it’s not already in “square” form, I turn to this app. This is also how I get those white edges/borders on my Instagram pictures! Again, super user-friendly and easy to use. Especially if you are annoyed with being limited to that silly square picture that is needed to post on Insta. It’s time to be able to post your entire picture without having to crop!
[FOUR]
Phonto (free)
I’m not big on adding fonts to pictures, unless it’s a quote or it’s a title picture for a blog post, like for a recipe or tutorial, or like this one! But when I decide to get wordy on my snapshots, Phonto is by far the best in my opinion. Has a ton of options for fonts, and you don’t have to pay to unlock them or to upgrade. So if you’re looking to get text on your pictures, use this guy. He’s awesome, and he’s cheap, cuz he costs NOTHING!
[FIVE]
Picstitch (free)
Again, not huge on collages either, unless they are for the blog, but I’ve been using this for as long as I can remember to “stitch” my pictures together. Gives you quite a few options as far as the number of pictures you want to collage together. Plus, they always have a daily special for a special collage configuration. I know there are a ton out there that do the same, but seriously, this is by far one of the best and easiest to use. The only downfall is if you are looking for some specific layout, it could potentially ask you to upgrade. But for most of the basics, you are covered.
Hope this post helps some of you guys out there! I know it’s made a huge difference in the way I quickly edit my iPhone images for social media!
What are your favorite editing apps?
